Tagged
I've been tagged by Lisa Sarsfield of 365 Project. Here are the rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Well, here goes....
1. The only dress shirts I'll wear are Brooks' Brothers classic fit, non-iron. If they have French cuffs, even better. Unfortunately, they haven't had a great line of colors or preferred fit lately, so I may have to find a new supplier.
2. I'm a popcorn snob. Only Orville Redenbacher's will do. And none of that awful microwave stuff. Air popped is fine. Stove popped is best. (I'm not very good at the latter, so I usually do the former.) Oh, and only real butter to top it all off is permissible. None of that yucky margarine/oleo stuff. And no flavored salts. Just straight up, as God-intended-it salt. Thank you very much.
3. I make the world's best oatmeal. Ever. People who hate oatmeal are converted when they eat my oatmeal. It's so good, I call it "World Famous in Poland Oatmeal"--a direct homage to one of my favorite Mel Brook's films, To Be or Not To Be.
4. When introducing myself to new people this year, my goal is not to tell them where I was educated or what I do professionally or where I live or who I'm voting for in the upcoming presidential elections--standard fare in this town--but rather to tell them three characteristics about me. "Hi. I'm Janet and I'm kind, responsible, and generally well-mannered."
5. I only hear in one ear: my right ear. As a result, I tend to walk on the left side of all my friends and family members. I also prefer being the driver, otherwise, I can't hear well enough to carry on a conversation.
I can't think of anyone to tag, since this blog is very new and my readership is still pretty small. That said, though, if you're reading this blog and you'd like to participate, follow the rules and let me know.

Wowee you were fast! Glad you hadn't been tagged already and that you got to play this strange game of international blog tag!
Pensive..that's the 2nd time (well 3rd if I count this time) I have read that word today. The first was in my local newspaper when a journalist described a little girl holding a teddy bear as looking "pensive" and I have to say you both have that look about you. Very deep. You know have something in common with the little girl holding her teddy on the beach lol.
I can't cook popcorn either! lol. I fail to understand why I can cook a roast but not pop corn in a pot! Fortunately my sister bought be a popcorn maker for my birthday a wee while back. Oh and I agree..don't be shy with the real butter and salt!
Thanks for playing!
Lisa :)
ha, what do you guess! this is why we like eachother :): we share the same ear! and you are so true about walking on the left side of the people and driving!!! hahaha, already feel better!
Lisa: Had to be. I still have to find material for this week's two things challenge! Otherwise, it would have been Monday or Tuesday next week before I got around to this. Besides, it was fun. Gave me an excuse to find a few more converts for my oatmeal! ;-)
Lara: Excellent! I'll bet you have your friends trained well, too. All of mine know to walk on my right side if they want me to hear what they're saying.
I suppose if I lived in one of those countries where they drive on the wrong side of the road (nods to you, Lisa), I'd have the pleasure of being the passenger for a change.
We have so much in common, lol! I adore popcorn and eat it every day, plus good ear is the right one too, and besides that I needed a good oatmeal recipe. ha! I enjoy your blog so much and look forward to your postings. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the 2 things challenge and the next DC tour.
I hate getting one of these memes, but just devour the details when others do theirs. Most especially the others I don't know as well yet, like you.
I like your pensive portrait. You are staring right at us. And have a look like you are listening carefully. (But perhaps are not entirely sure you believe everything that is being told to you -- which is a good thing.)
1. I wish I knew, like you, a brand of something that was well-made, fit me well, and was comfortable. Then I would replace all my clothes with it in one of every color. "The Debi Uniform."
2. We are a bunch of popcorn eaters around here it seems. I have perfected popping popcorn on my stove top, to the last kernel, even if it's not OR's -- although I confess you are right that is the best. My additions: salt and Louisiana hot sauce on the side.
3. Now that is saying something! How does a person make the best oatmeal ever? I bet it has nothing of that Quaker man on the box. Idea for a future post!
4. I LOVE THIS idea. Yes, let's tell things that are worth telling. Things that set the record straight right off the bat. And good on you. (I read your other post about this subject too and I see how this idea developed.)
5. Sounds like you've figured out how not to let this get the better of you. I said, SOUNDS LIKE YOU...
sorry. Bad Debi.
Top to bottom I enjoyed this post, as I am enjoying getting to know you bit by bit. What a fun journey.
We are all a bunch of popcorn eaters around here it seems!
P.S. Do the 2 Thing Challenge when you can. I may not get the thumb right away, but I'll get it on soon thereafter.
Bobbie: I think I'm going to do a series on churches and places of worship in D.C. Or, I might try my hand at some people pictures. I don't know. What I do know is, it's damn cold out there, which is why I haven't ventured out since right before New Year's. It's suppose to get warmer early next week, which will inspire me to get out. That, and I have a job interview next week, which I hope will mean I'm not unemployed too much longer.
Debi: Love your response to my meme! As for the hearing joke, ha!
So, I went to the store last night to buy popcorn because--horrors!--I'm out and the grocery store didn't have my brand. I was one sad girl last night, let me tell ya!
I'm heading out a little later and thinking of some shots I might take. By the way--love your b/w from yesterday. I'm still pondering them in my minds eye and trying to decide which one I like best.... I'll be back over your way soon.
We all need a nice hot bowl of oatmeal this week. The cold even reached N. Florida. Why not do a series of photos on "unexpected sights" in DC. I was very surprised to see a cop riding a horse down the sidewalk last time I was there!
