U.S.A. Confidential

For the next week and a half or so, D.C. Confidential is on the road across America. I'll be traveling "from sea to shining sea" driving from the Washington to the other Washington. Be sure to check in every day and see where I've been. I promise, it'll be fun!

Thursday: Canton Confidential
Friday: Lincoln Confidential and Nauvoo Confidential
Saturday: Amana Confidential and South Dakota Confidential (The East Side)
Sunday: Wall Confidential, Badlands Confidential, and Rushmore Confidential*
Monday: I-90 Confidential (Wyoming)
Tuesday: I-90 Confidential (Montana/Idaho)
Wednesday: Spokane Confidential and Cascades Confidential

And now, D.C. Confidential is going on vacation for a little bit. I'll be back a week from today.

* AKA South Dakota Confidential (The West Side) in Three Parts!

Note: I've also posted a couple of photos on my Standing Room Only blog.

I believe that should read "driving from the other Washington to the Washington." ;-)

When you go through my old stompin' grounds of Moses Lake, wave for me.

Looking forward to seeing where your travels take you. Keep your eyes open for strange roadside vernacular.

Perhaps a giant ball of twine, a dinosaur or a good old fashioned Stuckey's with a rootbeer float and Daniel Boone caps or cedar boxes of the Last Supper. :)

Travel safely.

Oh, boy! A road trip and a long one! What an adventure. Will be following you along the way.
My son bought a fun DVD of still photographs taken by a photographer-pilot as he travelled Route 66 (Flying Route 66) and talked about his stops. The DVD was really entertaining with wonderful photography.
So I'm looking forward to your posts.

If you're gonna travel, you've got to do the Thelma and Louise thing. If you don't, you'll regret it.

I'm very jealous. I'd love to drive across America. Make sure you have a blast for me! :)

Maya: Um, my Washington (1790) came long before your Washington (1889.) ;-)

Lucy: Will do!

Andrea: Road trips can be a lot of fun! Esp. if you have the luxury of taking your time. Haven't seen a giant ball of twine or a Dan'l Boone cap yet, but I did see the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD, today. That was a trip!

Tash: I would love to do a Route 66 road trip!

GIL: Well, if I do a T&L, that means I have to murder someone, blow up a tanker truck, and drive my car off a cliff. I'm not sure I'm inclined to do any of those. But, I am trying to have as much fun as T&L sans the rest of the drama!

Marley: I'll do my best for you! You and Mrs. Phoebe should come here sometime and do a road trip. I think you'd enjoy it!

Okay, I have to admit, this week was just too busy for blogging, so i'm playing some catchup. Looks like your adventures across the country have been filled with excitment and great photo ops! I see you were in Iowa and then South Dakota. That means you passed dangerously close to Minnesota. Did you think about me?? :)

My inlaws live off I-90 in Wyoming so we have succumbed to the Wall Drugs signs many times - if only to give me a break from the badlands. I find driving through South Dakota to be my own personal circle of tribuation so it was nice to see it through a less jaundiced eye.

However, I heart the kitch of Wall Drug but only in South Dakota.

Brian: Yes, I definitely thought of you as we drove through Illinois and Iowa. We almost took a route that would have included part of Minnesota, but decided not too. Perhaps the next road trip will include a stop in your state!

Miranda: You feel about South Dakota the way I feel about Nevada. As for Wall Drug, it was definitely over the top, but kitschy wonderful nonetheless!

Your posts are fantastic!
Great take on Wall - I really like their public library. Never have seen the approach to Mt. Rushmore. Badlands look so bad (in a good sense). The temple shot at night is fabulous. What a great trip!

Tash: Thanks! This road trip was fun. Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, the Lincoln Museum, the Nauvoo Temple, Wall Drug and its library... All of it was so much fun and so interesting.

OK, it's been almost a week and I realize how unhealthy withdrawals symptoms are. When are you going to start blogging again?

Phoebe: I may post something on Saturday (tomorrow), but I'm definitely going to be back starting on Sunday with my post for 2 Things Challenge. Good to know I still have fans! ;-)
