When Bloggers Meet: Seattle

Pike Place Market decorated for Christmas : Seattle, WA

Saturday evening, I hooked up with Maya of Maya Photography and she showed me all around Seattle's downtown area. I have no clue where we were exactly at all times, but she was a great tour guide.

A tripod would have been useful for these, but I still like them : Pike Place Market : Seattle, WA

Of course, a tripod would have been helpful that night and I had it with me, but left it in the trunk of the car. I've found that it works best there. (That's also where I store my umbrella on rainy days as it's less likely to get wet that way.) The result of being tripod-less were these two happy mistakes at Pike Place.

Carousal at Macy's : Seattle, WA

After we saw Pike Place Market, we walked around the plaza near Macy's and then walked through Capitol Hill. What struck me most, for some odd reason, was all of the neon. We don't have a lot of neon in downtown D.C., but Seattle seems to have a ton of it. Most of my pictures from that night feature lots of neon.

Robin Williams at the Paramount : Seattle, WA

If these five pictures aren't enough neon for you, come back tomorrow when I'll be featuring a few more examples of lighted wonder as part of the weekly Two Things Challenge!

Bus Terminal : Seattle, WA

We also walked past the city's bus tunnel, which looked really cool in the night light, so I snapped a picture. Not your typical, iconic Seattle sight (those will show up here on Monday), but quite beautiful nonetheless.

Tomorrow: Two Things Challenge and more neon.

These are great and I see you keep your tripod where it belongs, in the trunk. Why bother when you can get so many shaky photos to delete later !

Bravo! I see you are enjoying your visit with Maya in Seattle and night photography. will Seattle be the same? Stay tuned! ;)

Although I enjoy using my tripod, it is cumbersome to carry along everywhere you go. Your "mistakes" created an excellent image as if on purpose or in phtotshop. Love your night shots!

Before it got cold up here, I lwould leave the tripod at home and use a light pole, building wall, etc. to brace tyhe camera against for stability. Much easier than toting a bulky tripod.

VJ: My thoughts exactly! I mean, crisp, clear pictures are just so overrated in my book.

Rob: Well, I can't speak for Maya, but I had a lot of fun! Whether Seattle will ever be the same remains to be seen. Let's just say, I discreetly left town the next day.

And you're right about tripods. They can be very cumbersome. There has to be a better way? Maybe a gyroscope in cameras? I don't know. Still, I think I lucked out on these shots.

I like these. Many of them are familiar because I check out Chuck's Seattle blog but your take is refreshing. The carousel photo is excellent!

These are great photos. Obviously not as crisp as a tripod photo but pretty good for hand held! You must have hardly breathed!

I recenlty met John from Manchester Past and Present. Isn't it great to meet another photo blogger?Such a small world sometimes:)

Great shots! I was happy to show you around our fair city. I'd love to do it again sometime.

Marley: Thanks! Chuck does a great job. It would have been fun to photowalk with him, too. Hm. Perhaps I'll have to make another trip.

Lisa: Hi! I love meeting other bloggers. D.C. is a HUGE blogging town and I'm continually meeting and getting together with other bloggers. Meeting bloggers who live in other cities is a new phenomenon for me and just as cool as meeting locals.

Maya: Thank you again! And I'll take you up on that. If you're ever out this way, I'd love to return the favor. I think we have a few things around here worth photographing!

I really like this series. Especially the spaceship merry-go-round. :)
