Two Things Challenge: Urban / Art

Urban graffiti as art : Silver Spring, MD

This week's Two Things Challenge was Urban / Art. I snapped this first picture a few days ago in downtown Silver Spring. I like how someone took what would otherwise be graffiti and put it on canvas as a way to add some color to the passageway that links one of Silver Springs' parking decks with its downtown shopping district.

These other photos are some more of the neon we saw during our photo walk on Saturday night in Seattle. As the Emerald City is rather urban, I thought these signs were appropriate for the challenge.

To see how others interpreted this challenge, go to Two Things Challenge and check it out!

Tomorrow: Seattle in the daylight.

I love your shots. I looked for some good graffity like yours but didn't find any - I wonderf if that's a good thing or not. I always think of the neon signs as art - the tango one is super.

Very nice! Neon is certainly urban art.

Nicely done Janet. I like the blurred people, they help add to the idea of this being 'urban'.

Tash: Thanks! I just stumbled on this on my way back to the car. And yes, the Tango neon is super! I think it's my favorite of the three.

Maya: And there was definitely a lot of it is Seattle's urban jungle!

Lisa: Thank you! The blurred people ended up being a bonus in this picture!

I've fallen so far behind lately, sorry.

Perfect urban art! Graffitti on canvas, something that can be purchased becomes art here. And of course what better urban art than the evening neaon landscape!

Rob: Betcha an ice cream cone I'm even further behind! I definitely preferred canvassed graffiti to the alternative. And neon is always a good thing!
