Some of the last perennials to bloom in the spring are lilies. I've been noticing them in a wonderful variety of colors--yellows, oranges, reds, purples, whites, variegated. These are just a few examples of some of the lilies I've seen around my neighborhood in the last week or so.
More yellow lilies. The ones on the left are growing in a pot in my neighbor's yard.
The ones on the right were photographed near Emerson and 16th Street NW.

Such a sriking flower. Great colours too.
Your lilies are breath taking. Sure glad their not classified as a weed.
Marley: They are striking flowers. My favorites are stargazer lilies. They give us a beautiful scent.
Gwyn: Thanks! I'm glad they're not considered a weed either!
ahhh, more flower p*rn! LOVE it! Especially the backlit shots.
Maya: That's me. The flower sl*t!
Ditto!
Maya: Excellent! It's always good to have a friend along for they seedier side of life. Flowers. Seedy. Get it? LOL. Okay, I'll go away now.
You are too much! hahahaha. I'm pretty sure a sl*t couln't really be a sl*t without other sl*ts around though, could they? I'm happy to accompany you in your sl*ttiness! ;-)
Maya: Here's the thing though: If we're gonna be flower sl*ts do we have to wear fishnet stockings and eight inch heels, 'cause if we do, I am so outta here. In the kind of heat and humidity we have here, no way am I putting on hosiery! I'm all about comfort and taking pictures of flowers, not falling into them. :-)
I agree! No hose for sure! Though, at least with fishnets, you get some air exposure...
Maya: Yes, but in the heat and humidity out here, I have one word: chaffing.
Need I say more?
ahhhhh! OK, I give!
Maya: Okay, so we'll be flower sl*ts sans the stockings. Phew! I was starting to worry. I haven't worn nylons in years.
