Night Art

Doors as Art : National Museum of the American Indian : Independence Avenue NW

Washington is home to 11 Smithsonian museums right on the National Mall, three Smithsonians several blocks north of the Mall, and one Smithsonian each in D.C.'s Anacostia and Woodley Park neighborhoods, and the National Gallery of Art's East and West Buildings. Additionally, the area is now home to the newly opened Newseum. (The Smithsonian also has an air and space annex in Chantilly, Virginia, 35 miles west of Washington.)

While each of the museums house impressive collections inside, many of them also have intriguing works of art on their grounds.
