The Circuit Rider(Click image to enlarge)
On display in the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois, is a custom bike, or chopper, that features Abraham Lincoln as its design theme. Here are a few more pictures, showing some of the detail from this really cool ride! The official name of this bike is The Circuit Rider and commemorates the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth. It is owned by a man named Richard Levi and was built by Kim Shirley of Kim's Auto Body in Springfield. Read the press release here.

That is a cool bike! I looked all over, but can't figure out how to slow down the slide show. I still can't read the captions and look at the photo in time!

I wonder if Mr. Lincoln would approve. Do you think he'd ride one if he were here now? I think he might have enjoyed a little fun in his free time. It's nice to imagine him having a life after his presidency with a chance to enjoy the benefits of his work, as the rest of us have.

Brian: I know! Can you imagine him on a bike like this? That would be kind of cool.
Andrea: Yes, that's copper. I'm not big on loud motorcycles (it's a limited hearing thing), but I'd love a ride on this bike!
Petrea: I'd like to think he would. Lincoln was weighed down by a lot of heavy moments in history and was prone to melancholy. Purportedly, though, he was also keen on a good laugh so I think he might have enjoyed something like this at the end of the war. Some of the other monuments and memorials to him, though, likely would have embarrassed him.
