Competing
Last month, I entered my very first photo contest, which is being held at the Washington DC Temple Visitor's Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) in Kensington, Maryland. If you live in the D.C. area and you want to see some good amateur and professional photography, stop in and see this exhibit. I submitted three pieces to the show and two of them made it onto the wall.
The photo above of the Lincoln Memorial was taken last fall at sunrise. The photo below has appeared on this blog as a black and white, but I submitted it to this competition in color. The one photo that didn't make it into the exhibit was my picture of the Washington DC Temple. It was featured here in June as part of my entry Study in Blue.
The free exhibit is called Monuments of Faith and is open to the public seven days a week until September 14. I'm also working on opening a gallery at Image Kind and hope to begin selling some of my photos in the next week or so! Stay tuned and watch for an Image Kind widget in the left navbar.

I'm LOL that our Abe picked your Abe as his favorite! I might have to agree. The angle and the color are so perfect. Congratulations on being selected to show your work. Can't wait to see your new site.
the color and light in the Lincoln shot is extraordinary. should be in a gallery.
And I am in love with the Natural Bonsai photo. The two herons add even more grace.
Congratulations on getting your photos selected. Great pics.
Glad you got a couple accepted. The top photo is brilliant. A sure fire winner! Also good to hear you will be selling soon. I knew you could do it :)
AL: I'm glad you like the Lincoln photo. If you ever visit D.C., call me and I'll come out and take a picture of you at sunrise. I have no doubt we'll achieve similar results!
VJ: I know! I laughed, too.
Knoxville: Thanks!
USElaine: There are actually EIGHT herons in that picture! That's what I love about that one: it's a search and find sort of puzzle.
Mo: Thank you! It's been fun.
Marley: Thanks! I'm furiously uploading photos to ImageKind and hope to achieve some positive returns soon!
Congratulations, good luck! Love the Lincoln photo, the reflection and night scenes are stunning. Please keep us posted!
Love your work! I've only been to DC once and it was a whirl-wind business trip with only one day to sight-see. But I was SO taken by the Lincoln Memorial. I had just not realized how large it is. This take on it is WONDERFUL!
These are just beautiful and the Lincoln pictures is a winner for sure!
Rob: I'll let you know how the competition goes. I'm hoping to win a people's choice award for the Lincoln photo. And I've already had a couple of people contact me regarding copies. Now I've just got to shift into high gear and get my galleries set up on ImageKind.
Lake Lady: Thanks! I LOVE the Lincoln Memorial. It's my favorite monument in the entire city. Glad you enjoyed your visit to D.C. Hope you're able to come again soon!
Prof: Thank you! I had a blast taking the Lincoln picture.
