Runner : Sligo Creek Park

Yesterday morning, I went walking in Sligo Creek Park and snapped this picture of a runner coming over a footbridge. I also took some cool pictures of a tree fungus, some wildflowers, and a dad pushing his kids in a double wide stroller. But this is the one I chose for today's purposes.

Sligo Creek Park is a lovely expanse in Montgomery County that stretches from Takoma Park northward to University Boulevard in Wheaton. It has paved trails, playgrounds, exercise stations, tennis and basketball courts, and a public golf course and is a lovely place to walk, run or bike. Like its counterpart, Rock Creek Park, Sligo Creek Park is an oasis in the midst of traffic and suburbia and a beautiful place to get away from all the hubbub.

Great shot. Also made me realize that I have to go walk in a bit. Bummer

Nice angle, it makes for an interesting shot. Sounds like this park has everything you could want outdoors.

Virginia: Thanks! I had to run ahead a little to set it up. Enjoy your walk!

Marley: Thanks! Despite the congestion and population density in these parts, there are little pockets of green to enjoy. That said, though, I wish there were more park-type parks in D.C. proper. (If that makes sense...)

Funny angle, almost like you were laying down. I'm so envious of all these wonderful parks. I know I must have mentioned before how they use up every patch of grass for a golf course here. I miss parks, lovely green people use parks.

Cool angle you have taken the picture from

Andrea: I almost was lying down. Fortunately, I have a little 6" tripod and I set it with the camera at the end of the bridge and waited for this runner to appear over the edge.

Mo: Thanks! It was a fun picture to take!

You sure have a lot of nice places to go for a walk! Nice shot.

Strange and interesting perspective. As if you were lying on the ground to take the photo.

I love the pink shirted person just sneaking into view. Geat image, and parks of any kind are a life svaer for the mind.

Maya: Ironically, to walk in those nice places, you either have to drive or bike to get to them! (Or extend your walk by a couple of miles to get to the pretty, quiet places to walk.)

April: I almost was lying on the ground.

Babooshka: Thanks! And I agree! We need more parks!
