All of the architecture is so unique for each of these embassies. It made me wonder if each embassy submitted different plans for their buildings or if they just occupied the already existing buildings.
Andrea: Some of the poorer, developing countries occupy buildings that already exist, but many countries have built or are building their own. They even bring in their own laborers to do it. Case in point right now: The Chinese are building a HUGE new embassy on International Drive. Right across the street from it is temporary dormitory housing for the Chinese nationals who are here doing the building.
To date, with the exception of Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, the embassies I've featured have all been new construction.
