Two Things Challenge: Dead / Alive

Daffodils: a sure sign spring has arrived

This week's Two Things Challenge was Dead / Alive, which seems quite appropriate for the time of year--fall in the southern hemisphere and spring in the northern hemisphere. It's Easter Sunday, which also seemed apropos.

The daffodils of spring rise out of the fallen leaves of autumn

One of the things I love about spring are the daffodils. The other night, I went out to the Container Store on Wisconsin Avenue. The quickest way to that part of the city is via Military Road. These daffodils were part of a large greenway of buttery yellow floors just begging to be photographed. So, I obliged. On my way back to the car, I stumble on the second bunch all by it self in the midst of fall's leaves: a perfect representation of Dead / Alive!

Happy Easter, friends!

Happy Easter, Janet!

Perfect interpretation for this challenge.

I agree the daffodils are wonderful, I have some paperwhites here that are short lived since it goes from cold to hot in a very short span of time.
85 degrees here today.

Daffodils are my favorite flower, and those are gorgeous photos. I hope you had a great Easter!

AE: Happy Easter to you, too!

I know daffodils seem kind of obvious, but they were just so pretty. What I'd love to photograph is some bougainvillea in full bloom! I think I'll have to make a trip to California for that.

Jess: How can daffodils be your favorite flower? They're yellow... Oh, oh, oh. How perfect would it be if someone cross bred a daffodil with an iris and produced a purple version of your favorite flower? Purple daffodils would be SO COOL!

Bright cheerful yellow daffodils, bright with life. I likehow they contrast the dead leaves. Pretty picture.

I love Daffodils too. I like the light on these! I'll have to try those challenges sometime.

DL: Thank you! I really lucked out with the second picture. I should have taken a wider shot of that one just for comparison and perspective.

Maya: I took these pictures at around 8:30 in the morning, which accounts for their brightness. I love daffodils, too. They're so cheery!

And yes, you should participate in the 2 Things Challenge. Your photos of Seattle and its treasures are amazing!

Thankyou for obliging and treating us with lovely daf's. I look forward to seeing them in my part of the world too! Thanks also for choosing the Native/Exotic theme. I will look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with and thanks for including my photo's even though I didn't quite get around to it! Hope you had a happy Easter, what ever it is to you:)

Lisa: I'm really excited about this week's theme. I've been wracking my brain, trying to think of things that are not indigenous to this area. (Of course, aside from the Native Americans, who among us in this country is really indigenous?) I've got a couple of ideas; it'll be interesting to see which one floats to the top!
