The Force...

Luuuuuke... I'm your faaaaaaatherrr...

Today's entry is for my cousin Karl's son, Kelten. Apparently Kelten is a HUGE Star Wars fan. If memory serves me correctly, when we were kids, my brother and sister and I, Karl, his older brother Peter, and our cousins John and Arlene all went to see Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in some theater in Salt Lake City. (I can see the theater in my minds' eye, but I can't remember where it is.) Karl, as I recall, was a pretty big Star Wars fan. It would seems he's passed that fan-love on to his son.

This is a bobblehead Darth Vader I picked up the other night at Target. My original plan was to mount it on the dashboard of my car, but I haven't gotten 'round to that so I brought it into the house the other day. Last night, I set it up in the window ledge, turned off all the lights, got out my laser pointer, and starting messing with time exposures. This is one of the images I got out of my goofing around. The backdrop is the tree in the backyard with light supplied by the street lamp in the alley. The tower to the right is one of the Metropolitan Police Department's dispatch towers.

May the Force Be With You, Kelten!

Kelten is already off to school:( He is going to flip when he sees this. Thanks so much for thinking our in direction. Karl is still a huge fan too. The best gift I have ever gotten him (in his opinion)? A force FX light saber for our anniversary last year! I know so easy:) I can't wait for Kelten to come home; he is going to love this!!! Thanks D.C.

Luke, I'm your father, eh? Man, I remember seeing Star Wars somthing like a dozen times when it came out. Then Bob and doug McKenzie did their Great White north album, and their Star Wars skit is usually stuck in my head when I think of Star Wars.

I like this little Darth Vader. But how did you ge your laser pointer to work? Looks like a cool trick.

This from Target? Ironically, on my way home tonight, I grabbed a night pic of Target Corporate. -9 as I was standing outside setting up the tripod. Look for it on Tuesday.

Niki: So... What did Kelten think? Inquiring minds are dyin' to know! ;-)

DL: You know those laser pointers people use in presentations or you buy to harass your cat/dog? I have one of those. I set the time exposure for 15 seconds, then very carefully ran the laser up the light saber during the time exposure. Voila! Lighted light saber!

Can't wait to see the Target HQ picture. Have you ever been inside? They have some really amazing art in their entry lobbies! There's a Chihuly (that's the only one I can remember, because I was suppose to meet a friend in front of it, but I thought she said "meet me in front of the Chipotle." Eventually we hooked up, when another friend ran into me outside, corrected me and sent me inside. Chihuly. Chipotle. Tomato. Tomatoe. Same thing, right?) among other artists inside.

As for the -9, it's amazing the things we'll do for a good picture, isn't it?!

That's so sweet! My whole family are also fans, especially hubby...he has the books too. Great trick there...I thought that it does light up by itself! Good day Janet!

Gee: I had fun with this one! I wish the light saber lit up on its own, but I suppose that's too much to ask of a toy that only cost US$10.

Janet,
Thanks a lot! I really like the bobble head:) My dad has a dashboard Yoda that says cool stuff but he isn't a bobble head. Maybe he can get the Darth Vader next time. I think your picture is super cool. I thought it lit up by itself. That laser pointer trick is awesome! Thanks, Kelten

Kelten:

I had fun making this picture. Daddy's Yoda sounds like a cool toy! I'll have to see if I can find one to go with Darth Vader.

Thanks for posting a comment!
