Snow!

Snow!

It's snowing right now.

It started with tiny, dusty flakes that then became big, fat, globules of snow, followed by sleet.

I've been out a couple of times already to shovel. It's just easier if you do it early and often (like voting.)

I'm not a huge, huge fan of snow. Having grown up in Utah, I lived through 17 years of winter weather. I like to say I've done my time where snow is concerned. Plus, when it snows out here, 95% of the population panics and runs out to the store to buy bread, milk, and toilet paper. On top of that, you have folks who have never lived in and/or have no experience driving in snow. The result is a lot of panic on the roads, as well as lots of slipping and sliding and abandoning of cars.

All of that said, I'm finding that lately I like it when it snows here. It forces everyone to slow down and be quiet for a little bit. And what's not to like about that?

Great to see some snow. We don't seem to get much any more here in England.

I love those tree branches stretching out, cradling snow. That sure is a lot of snow! It dosn't snow in my neck of the woods, we'd have to pay to go to ski-fields or drive and hour and a half to play in it on the side of the road...not the same! Snowed in Taranaki though although my part of it was too close the sea and it melted before it fell. Lovely shot!

Snow, woopee! I love seeing snow. We haven't had any here in quite a few years. Notice that I said I love seeing it, not driving, not freezing, not slipping, etc. Nice snow picture.

Bev: I think it's a lovely little thing called "Global Warming." Actually, we've had warmer and warmer winters here of late than in years past so snow is pretty rare here, too.

Lisa: I think we got about six inches, but it was heavy, wet snow, which compacts pretty quickly and ends up like wet cement. I miss the dry powder that was characteristic of the Intermountain West (Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana.)

Bobbie: I agree. While I like the quiet that comes with snow, I don't care for the driving, cold, slipping, messiness of it all. I'll be fine if it all melts away by the weekend.

I love the snow and the slow-down that comes with it!
