Safari

Fall color on a quiet street in Fairfax County

Yesterday, as we were waiting for the turkey to finish cooking, my brother and I went out on a photo safari in the neighborhood. I have a few pictures I'll feature from that and I'm starting with this one. Despite low rainfall this summer, we still had beautiful fall colors. Here is further evidence.

Yesterday evening, a cold front blew in from the north. One minute, it was 73 degrees and literally 30 minutes later it was moving down into the 40s. Along with the cold, there was high wind. What little foilage was left on most trees is now gone. Only one month of fall equinox left and then we're into the winter solstice.

This pair of trees was pretty amazing! I'm glad we stumbled upon them.
