1-90 Confidential (Wyoming)

Monday found us driving I-90 across the northeastern corner of Wyoming. It was snowy and slick. The original plan had been to see Devil's Tower National Monument, but the weather didn't cooperate so we pushed on to Billings, Montana.

Nice Snow Pictures

The Holly

In contrast to yesterday's ugly snow pictures, here are some pretty ones. Hopefully these will inspire thoughts of winter loveliness. Or something.

On a different note, for the next week or so, D.C. Confidential will come to you from the road. I'll be visiting a hall of fame, a presidential library, a riverside city with a colorful religious history, a famous and familiar monument, a geologic phenomenon, some big sky, and the city where romance is sleepless. Come by tomorrow and the next day and the next and see where my travels have taken me!

Snow Day!

Welcome Mat in Snow Relief

Today's entry is sort of a continuation on the previous day's monochromatic take on winter. It snowed here yesterday morning and afternoon, followed by sleet last night. For most of you, that's hardly news. Around here, it's all the news and then some. It doesn't take much--we only had four inches in the city--but snow cripples the D.C. area. Everything just sort of shuts down for a few days and gets kind of quiet. The snow and ice is a pain, but the quiet part is nice.

Where the Eave Ends

Here are just a couple of shots of the snow from the warmth of my house. If the roads aren't too bad later today, I'll try to get out to take some pictures of D.C.'s more iconic images in the snow. But don't hold your breath. My car needs new tires, so I may just be staying put!
