Two Things Challenge: Solid / Pattern

A solid brick wall with some pattern to it.
(Click to enlarge and appreciate the texture.)

This week's Two Things Challenge was Solid / Pattern. Coming home from the Obama for America office the other day, I noticed this wall near the spot where I'd parked my car. It's part of a wall for an abandoned warehouse on Georgia Avenue and 8th Street. I love how the bricks are solid, different colors, and have a pattern, so I figured this was perfect for the challenge!

If you'd like to participate in Two Things Challenge, all are welcome! Next week's challenge is East / West.

Repeating the reminder from the last couple of days, tomorrow, October 6, is the last day to register to vote in D.C. and Virginia. If you haven't registered, please get out and do so. Voting is a fundamental right and privilege of American citizenship.

Virginia: They stood out to me, too. It's funny the things you find on side streets.

Shades: Thanks! And welcome to 2TC!

Gwyn: Amazing, isn't it? And on the side of an industrial building, no less!

Wow, thanks for the architectural discussion. I get to DC once in a while on business and the Castle stands out so prominently along the Mall. DC has a fascinating range of buildings and I'm glad to learn more about a special one.

Marley: The texture really drew my eye, too! This was actually a fun picture to take.

Strangetastes: The Smithsonian Castle is definitely iconic in this town! Next time you're here, give a shout and we'll go photo walking together.

I love it!

I used your pictures of the two things challenge in class to see if the kids "get" it and use it as an exercise to get them to articulate why.

Prof: You used this picture in your class? Or, no wait. I read your comment incorrectly, didn't I? You used the juxtaposition of two words in your class, right? Cool! How did the discussion go? I'd love to hear more.
