Two Things Challenge: Corner / Stone

Corner : Market at Kennedy Street and Colorado Avenue NW

This week's 2 Things Challenge was Corner / Stone. My original plan was to go to Capitol Hill and take a picture of the cornerstone on the U.S. Capitol, which was laid by George Washington and his Scottish Rite Masonic brothers in 1789. Alas, other commitments and ailments kept me at home. Instead, I give you these: the Golden Corner Market at Kennedy Street and Colorado Avenue NW. I've never been inside myself, but it's a tiny little retail/restaurant strip typical of urban settings and quickly becoming extinct.

Stone : Sligo Creek : Takoma Park, Maryland

This second photo is of Sligo Creek in Maryland, which is where I went this morning for a walk. I'm not sure what the content is in the stones that fill this creek (I should have paid better attention in that geology class I took in college), but I thought the setting was pretty.

That first one is great! How clever. The second one looks like such a peaceful place. I'd sure like to take a walk there!

After all that home improvement, congratulations on shooting ANYTHING, much less the 2 Things Challenge. Well done. Go back and take some more pictures at that grocery store!

Th eold corner grocery, they used to be everywhere, but sadly, gave way to the big box shops. Love the river scene. Well done!

Maya: Thanks! I was desperate and since the cat doesn't have corners, I couldn't post another picture of him!

Virginia: I'm pretty amazed myself, especially since part of the home improvement stuff resulted in a roaring migraine. I'm staying inside today with all the blinds down and the lights off! LOL!

Rob: I had no idea it was a chain. Now I'm going to have to go back and really check it out. I drive past it a couple of times a week, but I've never gone in.

I love old brick-walled businesses that look like they've been there forever and this Sligo Park is beautiful.

Hope you are feeling better.

Andrea: I like old brick buildings, too. They bespeak a permanence that these new-fangled glass and steel structures lack.
