America!

Digital America : Smithsonian American Art Museum : Penn Quarter

Today is our nation's 232nd birthday. In 1776, we declared our independence from the sovereign kingdom of Great Britain and the rule of King George. Today, we are a constitutional federal republic made up of 50 states, one federal district (that's us!), and a handful of territories and protectorates. We are the melting pot of the world with a population of 304.5 million people from every country on the planet.

We have serious problems in this country that need serious, wise solutions, but we're a great country and I'm grateful to live here. Happy July 4th, America! And have a safe and fun holiday weekend everyone!

Happy 4th July from me, too. May you have a good president soon who takes wise decisions for your country.

Btw: nice idea to present the USA in a light installation.

Ah, independence, Happy 4th. This is the coolest image...and yes, as a great nation we do have serious problems I had spent a good part of the morning re-reading parts of the Declaration of Independence to see where we fell off the wagon. Hopefully with new leadership we can get back on task and make this an even greater place to live.

Be well, live free and peace out.

America, when it is at it's best it is wonderful. When it is at it's worst is is better than most!

Great shot!

Andrea: Sounds like you had a contemplative 4th. I think it would behoove every American to read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution at least once a year. Then we might now be so complacent about our rights.

Lynette: Thanks! Hope you had a good one, too!

Bobbie: Amen! Happy 4th to you!
