Water

Even though I post a photo (or two or three)-a-day on D.C. Confidential, I'm not a registered City Daily Photo participant. As a result, I never know what the month's theme is until I look at the blogs of those who are registered. Coincidentally, though, I've managed to post a picture of a monthly theme twice now prior to the first of the month. Last month's theme was Mural/Graffiti and I posted this on February 26.

April's theme is Water. I think some of my pictures from the Cherry Blossom Festival over the last couple of days qualify, but I won't rehash those ones. Instead, I give you pictures of the waterfalls at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial on the Tidal Basin in West Potomac Park. When I was out on Friday photographing the blossoms, I walked back to my car through the FDR Memorial. In addition to the history it conveys, it also includes a number of water features. These are three of the waterfalls within the memorial. Enjoy!

To see a full list of participants in City Daily Photo, visit anyone of these excellent blogs: BostonScapes, Quincy Daily Photo, Chicago Daily Photo, Cheltenham Daily Photo, Paris Daily Photo, and Vienna Daily Photo. These are just a sample of the more-than-175 photo and city enthusiasts around the world who post pictures of the places they live and work on a daily basis!

Hi Janet! I never knew that DC Confidential is not listed in CDP...anyway you always have fantastic shots to show and these are not exceptions. I will not ask what your camera setting is but the smooth effect in the photo is so lovely!

Great choices for today! Happy theme day! ;-)

Gizelle: I don't mind you asking.

Picture 1: 1 sec. timed exposure, f5.0, focal length: 10.84 mm

Picture 2: 1 sec. timed exposure, f3.2, focal length: 10.84 mm

Picture 3: 1 sec. timed exposure, f2.8, focal length: 7.30 mm

Or, as I like to say about a lot of my night photography: Pure, dumb luck! :-)

Love those shots, all of them. Pure dumb luck or not (most likely not ;)) you managed to capture some kickass night views of those waterfalls.

Love it! Another one of my favorite things in DC. Now if you can just get a shot of Einstein... ;)

I was going to ask about your camerasettings as well. Thanks for thi info. This helps us to learn as we go. Fantastic photos, by the way!

Fénix: Thanks! As a friend said the other day, "Pure, dumb luck is still luck." Or, as I say, "Pure, dumb luck is better than no luck at all!"

Cowbark: I almost walked over the Einstein sculpture on Sunday morning, but I was tired and cold by the time I finished my cherry blossom circuit, I decided it could wait for another day. I'm going to be out and about today and will try to get a photo of it in my wanderings.

DL: My pleasure! I should probably start adding that information to each of my posts.

Janet

I've been "drinking up" your amazing WATER images - I would say that 'luck ' certainly is a constant companion. The night images glow with that night light quality. Thank you.

Beautiful water shots! I was just at a Waterfall Park today, but did not take a shot of the water. Maybe later in the month... :-)

Susan: Thank you for your lovely compliments! Sometimes, luck is about all I have going for me at any given moment. :-)

Andrea: Thank you!

Maya: Thanks! Now I just have to learn how to set my camera so I can capture water images like the ones Fénix posted on BostonScapes this month...
