Two Things Challenge: Masculine / Feminine

Men's watches: one of the most masculine things I own

St. Petersburg tea cup and saucer sets: the softer side of my life

This week's Two Things Challenge is Masculine / Feminine. I started out by looking up these two words in the dictionary and searching for synonyms and antonyms. Not that I don't know what the words mean, but I was also trying to avoid stereotypical interpretations of the words. That didn't help, so I walked away from it, went and saw Gladys Knight and Saints Unified Voices perform at a church in Alexandria, went to Krispy Kreme, tried to catch Andrea's sister at an art exhibit but missed her, came home, and was inspired. (Personally, I think it was the donuts that gave me my inspiration!)

The first photo interprets Masculine and is a shot of three watches I own. They're all Fossil and they're all men's watches. Obviously, they're a bit on the large side, particularly for a woman with small wrists, but I like these watches because the faces are big and easily seen. I especially like them when I'm in a meeting and I want to be aware of what the time is without having to strain to read my watch.

The second photo interprets Feminine and is a shot of three St. Petersburg tea cups and saucers known as Russian Blues. I have a small collection of cups and saucers, but these are my most prized and priceless ones. The set in the center was a gift from my sister, when she traveled to St. Petersburg during Spring Break nearly 10 years ago. The set on the right, I purchased from a dealer in Atlanta. The set on the left was a gift from my paternal grandmother. When you come to my house for a meal, I serve tea with dessert. You're allowed to chose any tea cup from my collection except these.

I really like those watches! I often tend to like more masculine things though I look like a girly girl. Watches with big faces just make sense to me.

Those tea cups are very pretty. I love the gold with the blue, especially the far back/right hand corner cup. Very feminine entry:) and yes the watches are masculine too:)
I have entered but can't comment on 2 things...

Lara: Thanks! I really scoured the house for this one, but it was fun.

Maya: I agree--watches with big faces definitely make more sense.

Gizelle: The hanging watches can mean anything you want them to mean! ;-) I'll be sure to check out your Sunday meme.

Lisa: I love my teacups, but especially the Russian Blues. I'm headed over to your blog to check out your 2 Things!

Janet,
Perfecto! I also like men's watches just for the same reason. I also like the way the watches were displayed. There is something feminine about the staging.

Lovely teacups and saucers!

Congratulations on your review!

Andrea: I had fun figuring out how to take pictures of otherwise dull watches in an eye-catching manner. Thankfully, my blinds and the sunshine backlighting them inspired me!

I suppose staging is a rather feminine trait. Hm. I'm going to have to think about that a bit. You've just stimulated the mind of this sociologist...
