Holiday wreath at Union Station

Went on a photo safari yesterday afternoon/evening with my brother. Our meeting point was Washington's Union Station.

Built in 1907 at a cost of $125 million, Union Station became the city’s leading portal and transportation hub for more than 50 years. It was through Union Station that many of America's troops embarked to New York City and the ships that would carry them across the Atlantic for deployment to the European Theater during World War II. In the 1960s and 70s, Union Station fell into disrepair—the effect of the emergence of air travel as the preferred form of transportation. In 1981, restoration began on the station after much debate about what to do with the space. Three years later, the station reopened to its former glory. Today, Union Station shuttles more than 32 million people and passengers through its doors, once again making it a major transit hub in the Eastern Corridor.

This is a fun image to enjoy -- frames within frames.

My favorite part is the play of light on the left side of the arch. It's like a "bonus" section.

P.S. Did you get my reply email about your calendar question?

Debi:

I didn't notice the light until after I downloaded the photo to my computer. It's a nice touch, isn't it? The only thing that would make this picture "perfect" for me is if the flag had a little more lift to it. But then, that probably would have fluttered the ribbons on the wreath. Eh. Feh. I guess you can't have it all, right?

And yes, I did get your email. Thank you! I meant to reply yesterday and then was distracted by several other projects. I think to make it work, I'm going to have to load PhotoShop on my computer. Though I'll try the free resources, too, and will return and report.

And I think I'm going to give your weekly theme a shot. I have a picture of a bridge around here somewhere, but rather than post that, I think I'll start with whatever this week's theme will be. Looking forward to it!

And I'm enjoying your December "This-n-That". Very cool!

Well phooey. Third time is the charm. Sorry for all the deleted comments.

We would love it if you joined us in the 2 Things Challenge. I can't wait to see what you come up with. You have a week, so keep an eye out. (This week is "Colorful" and "Words".)

LOL. No, it seems you can't always have it all. But the times you get the unexpected "bonuses" evens it out, don't you think?

Thank you for the nice words about my pictures. It's been great fun for me to connect with other blogging photographers. Inspires me and keeps me on my toes! ;)

Debi: Not a problem. I do the same thing all the time! I've got an idea for colorful and I already have a photo for words, so I'm pretty excited!

I'm going to go out tomorrow night and take the colorful pictures and then should have something up shortly there after.

This is gonna be fun!

Oh, and I also add the 2 Things Challenge to my blogroll. It's at the very top.
